Snakewood (Amourette), Brosimum guianense, is a small tree from northern Amazonia and French Guiana. It is easy to recognise thanks to its speckles, small brown spots evenly spread across the wood.

It is a very dense and very hard wood (density around 1.2), traditionally used to make bows and violin bows. It is one of the rarest and most expensive woods in the world.
