About Bois Canon
Bois Canon's mission is to offer craftspeople and enthusiasts the most precious and decorative woods in the world, with a special focus on the woods of French Guiana, where we are based. The company was born from the observation that the precious woods of French Guiana were little valued, despite demand in French Guiana, mainland France and abroad. Bois Canon aims to meet this need by offering exceptional woods.
Our woods
The woods we offer stand out for their beauty and rarity. We offer classic exotic species such as rosewood, ebony, snakewood and boxwood, but also lesser-known species such as boco, marblewood, pink ivory and ribbon-figured bloodwood. These woods are available in various formats suited to fine crafts: blocks for knife handles, fingerboards for luthiers, pen blanks for pen turners, and rough pieces for custom cuts according to our customers' needs.
Founder
Léo, the founder of Bois Canon, has been passionate about wood since his teenage years. He started with amateur lutherie before turning to supplying precious woods to luthiers. His career has taken him through various sectors of the wood industry, including sawmills and secondary wood processing. He specialised as a wood engineer and works on developing the wood industry in French Guiana.
Environmental commitments
Bois Canon is committed to offering only wood from sustainable sources, without contributing to deforestation. Our protected woods comply with the CITES regulations in force. As for the woods of French Guiana, they meet strict sustainability standards, being harvested under the supervision of the ONF (French National Forests Office) following a low-impact charter. In addition, we make use of a large share of sawmill and worksite waste, recovering wood that does not meet conventional standards but often has unique patterns and aesthetic features.

Having worked closely with many craftspeople over the years, we understand the specific requirements that wood must meet for fine crafts. Every piece is selected with the greatest care, and any defect is clearly shown on our website, to guarantee complete transparency when you buy.

Additional information
We face certain logistical constraints, notably variable delivery times due to the geographical location of French Guiana, and we cannot offer wood with a very low moisture content because of the local tropical climate. By buying from Bois Canon, you are buying from a French website offering woods mostly harvested on French soil: a committed, ethical purchase, with the highest possible environmental guarantees.
Special services
In addition to the small cuts offered on our website, we can supply larger pieces and quantities if needed. A sea freight forwarder can also be used for exceptional purchases. However, we remain true to our goal of offering only exceptional woods intended for craft use.
