Collection: Indian Ebony
Indian Ebony, Diospyros ebenum, is known as the "true ebony".
Its grain is finer than that of its West African cousin. As with all ebonies, perfectly black wood, known as "jet black", makes up only a few percent of total production. It therefore often comes in more marbled, less uniform shades, so that the whole production can be put to good use.
A particularity of Indian Ebony is that it may sometimes show small "mineral spots", tiny white marks. This is not a defect but a characteristic of this wood.
